What is Tumeric Powder?

Tumeric is a traditional Indian spice (root) belonging to the ginger family which is used in day to day preparing of meals and dishes.

The root undergoes few procedures before getting ground into fine powder. There are two types of tumeric.

It is used in almost all Indian curries and has hardly no calories ( 1 teaspoon= 24 calories ) and zero cholesterol.

Tumeric helps promote weight loss and reduce the incidence of obesity. Tumeric powder is fat soluble you can use it with items like fried chips or non-vegetarian food items.

3. Tumeric powder for skin related issues

Sprinkling tumeric powder over cuts,or burns speeds up the healing process.

Applying numeric powder on your face will reduce wrinkles and prevents pimples and other skin related problems.

4. Tumeric powder for cough,cold and throat issues.

Add half a teaspoon of numeric powder along with half a teaspoon of black pepper to milk and boil well,add a little sugar and mix.

This will cure chronic cough and throat irritations.

Burning a tumeric stick over the flame and inhaling the smoke gives relief from cold and nose block .

Add 2 tablespoons of numeric powder to boiling water and inhale the vapor. Cover yourself with a blanket so the vapor won’t escape.

I was looking through the kitchen cabinet and saw some pretty looking pink rocks ,on the bag it said himalayan pink salt. For additional information  check wikipedia out.

Himalayan salt is rock salt from a mine in the Punjab region of Pakistan which rises from the Indo Gangetic Plain.

The foothills of the salt range are located 190 miles from the Himalayas, 185 miles from Amritsar, India. The Himalayan salt is pink in color due to the presence of iron oxide.

They are available as crystals as well as fine powder. This salt adds not only amazing taste but does many good things to our body.

Himalayan salt consists of 95% of sodium chloride and 84 other trace minerals. These trace elements include potassium, magnesium and calcium.

“SALT IS WHAT MAKES THINGS TASTE BAD WHEN IT ISN’T IN THEM” is a proven saying. A food without salt cannot be consumed.

What makes Himalayan pink salt so special is these crystalized sea salt beds  were covered by lava and ice for ages preventing them from being polluted. So they are considered to be the purest form of salt on the earth.

Why Himalayan salt is Better than Table Salt?

Table salt consists mainly 98% of sodium chloride. Taking too much sodium chloride increases blood pressure.

So  the risks of hypertension are increased. Now these days seas are polluted and so are the salts. White salts are obtained only after bleaching.

Anti-caking agents are added. Due to excess heating process the salt loses its nutritional value.

Bloating (water retention in our body) is caused due to intake of table salt because our body retains more water to process breakdown the unwanted natural salts from the body.

Himalayan salt not only adds flavor to the food it has health benefits too. Gargling with half a teaspoon of Himalayan pink salt with warm water cures me from sore throats.
